This is how the Orbiter works: (1) Place the Orbiter reader at the Start, Finish or Way Point, (2) Know who you have the bibs to, (3) As the Participants pass the reader will “beep”. Do these three things and 100% your race / lap count is safe. (4) Administration can be done before during and after the race. (5) Results may be streamed in real time on the Real Time Viewer, and ported over to a live LED for participants to see.
Software is easy to use. We designed it so anyone can time a race. The software design is based on inviting a person to a party. The party is your event. On the software home page tabs run from left to right. Just click on each tab filling out the form. This can be done before, during and after your race. The race is the Orbiter detectors. This software design allows you to make corrections on the set up at any time. This is why all you need to remember at a minimum is turn machine on, know who you gave the bibs to, and have the Orbiter reader “beep” when people finish.
So simple a live connection between the Orbiter reader and the laptop is not even needed. Detections can be synced to the computer later.Another feature is an internet connection to the Cloud is not needed. Your race is completely under you control and everything you need on site and local. If you want to optionally be on the Cloud or cellular connection this works too. Your race is safe and you may proceed without any hold ups. There is no reason with Orbiter to start a race late. Start your races on time all the time. This is the case even if you have not important all of the day of the event registrations. These can be done at any time.
